Celia Rocks - Rottnest Island snorkelling
Celia Rocks is a small rocky reef just off Rottnest's north-west coast, between Mabel Cove and Marjorie Bay. The official boating chart marks a rock awash here with a warning for breaking swell, so it is a spot to save for calm days.
Little has been published about the marine life at Celia Rocks. Expect the fish and invertebrates that shelter among limestone reef elsewhere around the island, and treat it as a place to explore rather than a known highlight. Its distance from the settlement means it sees few visitors.
- Experience level: Moderate
- Depth: 1-4 m
- Access: Shore snorkel: swim about 70-100 m out from the rocky point at the western end of Marjorie Bay, on the north-west coast. The DoT boating chart marks Celia Rock as a rock awash where swell breaks, so go only in calm conditions. No facilities; the nearest public toilets are at Narrow Neck by Rocky Bay (Island Explorer Stop 13, about 1.5 km east) and at Cape Vlamingh. Boats anchor in Marjorie Bay in settled weather.
