Fays Bay - Rottnest Island snorkelling
A small, sheltered cove just east of Geordie Bay, where green seagrass beds sit behind a shallow limestone reef full of ledges, caves and channels. Calm water and plenty of fish close in make it a good first snorkel.
Schools of small fish weave through the gaps and gullies in the reef, and the limestone along this stretch of coast hides crayfish, octopus and burrowing stingrays. The rocky points on either side take the edge off the wind.
The shallow, protected water suits beginners and families. Keep off the reef so the seagrass and limestone stay in good shape.
