Geordie Bay - Rottnest Island snorkelling
Geordie Bay is best known as one of the island's busiest swimming and boating bays, but the water further out is good for snorkelling too. A wide sandy beach and shallows lead out to green seagrass, which gives way to limestone reef with patches of colourful coral.
Stingrays, octopus and bigger fish turn up over the seagrass and along the reef edges, and the limestone here is riddled with small caves. Head beyond the shallows for the best of it, and keep a lookout for boats and moorings.

- Access: Island Explorer Stop 19 (Geordie Bay); about 7 minutes by bike from Thomson Bay. Public toilets, showers, a cafe and a general store at the bay (RIA). Busy boat moorings inside a 5-knot zone - watch for boats when swimming out.
